CloudMaster Element Management & Provisioning System

The highly scalable and flexible Vello Systems CX family platforms are managed by the CloudMaster™ software suite offering a highly effective and easy-to-use GUI-based approach to element and network management.

Cloudmaster Map Two New2CloudMaster provides full visibility and control down to the cards in each chassis. With critical, major, and minor alarms built into the system, users can manage the network according to their operational requirements. From a central management center, users have full control over the configuration of their network at all times. Fiber is not taken out of service and changes to the user's network can be made without truck rolls or service outages.

The Wavelength Wizard™ replaces conventional table entries with mouse clicks, presenting the results graphically to provide clear operator feedback and eliminate provisioning errors. It allows users to add or reconfigure wavelengths automatically with a few mouse clicks.

Cloudmaster Bandwidth Wiz NewEach network element (NE), consisting of all the cards and chassis at that node or site, manages itself locally using embedded software. Each NE is managed at a higher level by CloudMaster, the Vello Systems element management system (EMS). The EMS is responsible for operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning of the system and for northbound communication to an operational support system (OSS).

Highlights:

Cloudmaster Node A New
  • CloudMaster™ Element Management System core and its database (MySQL) are supported on Windows or Solaris running on Intel and SPARC platforms.
  • A Java-based client graphical user interface (GUI) runs on Windows or Solaris and provides a view of the entire network, individual shelves, alarm interface, wavelength provisioning, and network performance.
  • Standard communication protocols to northbound OSSs are supported via SNMP.
  • A standard craft/command line interface (CLI) is also available via RS-232 or Telnet from the Network Element.
  • Performance monitoring is provided at three layers:
  • Layer 0: receive and transmit optical power levels plus optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR)
  • Layer 1: SONET code violations (CV), errored seconds (ES), severely errored seconds (SES), and unavailable seconds (UAS)
  • Layer 2: RMON groups 1, 2, and 3
